This news probably won’t surprise you, but I’m the most un-organized person on the planet.  I have clutter on my desk at work, clutter on my work desk at home, and on all the PCs I work with. I have tried various task-management programs, schema, and theories, and each of them lasted a total of two days. Because of the clutter, the less I get done than I ought. I suppose you could also say that I’m on a quest for productivity. I want to get organized, I really do, but the inertia of being un-organized for so long seems insurmountable.

As I said before, this isn’t the first time I have arrived at this revelation. I’ve been here before, only to fall to the same organizational sins of my past. I feel like the majority of kids on a youth missions trip. You’re really fired up while you’re there, but after you’ve been home for a few weeks, it’s easy to slip back into the same old routine.

My first steps towards organization are related to the PC.

  • I’ve just started using www.iwantsandy.com as an attempt to maintain and use a to-do list.

  • I’ve started using a program called Launchy instead of my windows start/taskbar. Launchy is an application launcher which allows me to open any program, file, or website with just a few keystrokes. It’s also freeware. This step is taking a LOT of brain reprogramming to get used to.

  • I’ll get some pics of my home desktop (which was even worse) up later today.

  • Jenny agreed a while ago to help assist me in my organization, and I’m going to try and meet with her sometime next week to discuss what we can do better.

So, those are a few of my computer organizational strategies. Hopefully I’ll post some more non-computer related ones later.
