There. I said it. I’m lazy. James has declared today to be “Transparent Tuesday”, and, while I didn’t plan this particular post to go along with his declaration, it does kinda fit. If you watched me, it might take you a while to figure out how lazy I really am. I work a full-time job, do church work pretty much with the rest of my time, and am almost always busy. But, busy doesn’t always equal productive. Sometimes I waste away an entire day doing nothing.

To make matters worse, I am very easily distracted. In the few minutes that I’ve spent writing this post, I’ve already checked my email three times, called my wife, and checked on a new item I need in WoW. Most days these distractions can turn an otherwise effective time into an endless soiree of YouTube videos and blog reading.

Why am I getting all this out into the open? I need help. I’m tired of being an undisciplined time waster. Maybe you feel the same way I do. Maybe you find yourself at the end of the day wondering how in the world you wasted so much time away. If that’s you, let’s try to fix our problem together.

Here’s my plan:

  • Pray. Not only about wasting time, but invest more time in prayer altogether.
  • Work when I’m motivated. (more on this in a later post) I know I said I’m lazy, but hang with me for a second. When I was in college I got all my work done at night; I never wrote anything before 9:00pm. Today I find that I’m the exact opposite, I work much better in the morning, especially on creative projects. By the time 3 or 4 rolls around, you can stick a fork in me. (Not literally, please). Here are some things I plan on doing before lunch everyday:
    • Pray.
    • Blog.
    • Work on Church projects.
  • Free as many evenings as possible to spend with my wife/friends. Friday is date night. No negotiations.
  • Relax when I actually do have evenings free.

So, what do you think?
