Rantings of a Pastor/Gamer/Historian/Geek
Today’s blogging tip is all about time. You know, the stuff that we never have enough of. We can’t buy more, we can’t make more, and we certainly can’t kill it (it’s not even alive). One of the biggest hurdles to blogging consistently, and everyday, will be the time factor. We all have so many things competing for our time, that it’s hard to imagine cramming one more thing into our schedule. But, to blog consistently, we have to.
My advice is to set aside a particular time everyday to blog or, follow James‘ approach and write a week’s worth of blog posts in one day. Either way, if you can designate a certain time to blogging, eventually it’ll become easier and easier to do.
If your schedule really doesn’t permit a “blog time”, then by all means, write whenever you can. If this is the case for you, then you may want to take a closer look at your schedule. Maybe you can blog while you watch tv? What if you planned out blog series while you were in the shower? (However, I don’t recommend taking your laptop with you…)

This is a great tip. I never set out to write a week worth of posts in one sitting. I usually have an idea that I am passionate about and then find that I am in a writing zone. Instead of writing one post and hoping the mood will strike me again tomorrow I capitalize on it and write until I don’t have anything left to write. If the mood comes again tomorrow…great but it doesn’t really matter. Sometimes the mood is only right on Monday, no reason to waste it.
