Rantings of a Pastor/Gamer/Historian/Geek
One of our most popular posts has to do with the recently released movie, The Golden Compass. In the post, I talked a little bit about how I don’t understand many Christians’ incessant need to boycott things. Jesus never boycotted anything. He never told his followers to boycott…Oops, there I go again, sorry, this is a post about how to write, not how to rant. Why was this our most popular post? I certainly wouldn’t say that it’s my best work ever. The fact is that people are looking for information about the movie, and find our site accidentally. How did I come upon the epiphany to write such a popular piece of non-fiction? To be honest, I couldn’t think of anything to blog about that day, so I just grabbed a headline I saw on cnn.com. That’s right, one of our most viewed posts was written because I couldn’t think of anything to blog about. Sticking to our first rule produced something that a lot of people have read.
If you can’t think of anything to write, just peruse the news (rhyming intended, btw). I’m sure you’ll find something. Even if it doesn’t generate tons of traffic to your site, it’ll keep you blogging, and, as G.I. Joe used to say, “blogging is half the battle!”
