Yesterday James and I got to something that we haven’t had time for in a very long time. We both had a few hours, so we fired up the old Xbox and played some Halo2. It was great. It took a few games for the rust to start falling off, but we eventually hit our stride, winning quite a few games of 2 vs 2 Halo2 action. While we both really enjoy playing, time definitely has not been on our side in recent months.

It’s not anything groundbreaking to say that you need to take a break every now and again, but sometimes I think we need a reminder. Before we started this whole church launch business, James and I were good friends (not to say we aren’t now). Because we both work full-time jobs in addition to our church work, it’s easy to fall into the trap of spending all of our time together talking about church stuff. Again, that’s not a really big deal, but friends need time to goof off together. As Andy Stanley says, Life happens in the margins.

If you have friends that you haven’t seen in a while, or better yet, friends that you see all the time, but never in a relaxed context, make some time to goof off with them. You’ll be glad you did. I am.
