Rantings of a Pastor/Gamer/Historian/Geek
Well, it seems like everytime that James and I get a chance to hang out and just talk about stuff, the following phrase, or a close facsimile, is uttered: “Wow, that’d be a great book. We should write a book about that.” All in all I’d say that we’ve come up with more book topics then we can remember. Unfortunately for us, and probably fortunately for our readers, we’ve never really sat down to hammer out a book. Heck, we’ve never even taken any ideas past the brainstorming stage. Yesterday that alll changed. We decided that we were going to choose a book idea that has some potential and run with it.
Pretty soon you’ll see a new category spring up here on the blog which has to deal with our new writing endeavour. We currently don’t have a book title nor do we know which big name publisher will be knocking down our doors to gain access to our manuscript. Maybe someone will give us some info about where to find a publisher? (My money is on Staples DIY copy machines…) We do know, however, that the big idea tackled in the book will be the breakdown of discipleship within the church. Hopefully we’ll take an interesting, entertaining and ultimately enlightening look at how the church has become a pharmacy where believers come to get their fix, rather than a hospital where people come for real cures.
It should be an interesting journey. We just ask one thing of you, leave us some feedback. Do you think the idea sounds interesting? Do you think that James and I should just keep our crackpot ideas to ourselves? Thanks in advance, and keep a lookout for the new book category!

Have you ever looked at lulu.com? You submit them your book as a pdf or other type file and then they just produce the book on demand. You can keep it a private affair where only you control how many copies are produced or you can put it up for the public and even decide how much you want to make off each sale (they add your profit margin to the normal cost of producing the book). This way, you have on demand publishing and you aren’t stuck with having paid for say 200 copies of a book that only 6 people want to buy from you. I’ve yet to actually put anything up but I have went to the trouble of signing for at least one account (possibly two, I thought it might be useful for my Spanish ministry ventures). Hope that helps. lulu.com. Tell them Robbie sent you. I don’t think you’ll get any discount but at least I get some clout. Did I spell clout right?
