Rantings of a Pastor/Gamer/Historian/Geek
Hey everybody, I just got my computer fixed and decided to christen it with a new blog entry..so here goes:
Have you ever been on a family vacation? If you have, chances are your kids were asking the entire way: “Are we there yet?”. Maybe they got really impatient and had to be sedated with video games or something like “I Spy”. Maybe you fall closer to the kid category. If you aren’t old enough to have kids, or haven’t taken yours on vacation (shame on you), perhaps you remember sitting in the back of the station wagon, “not touching” your sister until she screamed and mom threatened: “Don’t make me come back there”. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sang “The song that doesn’t end” until I thought both my parents were going to literally turn the car around. Ahh, the memories.
I was reminded today that as church launchers, we can have the same problem. Being “big picture” people usually means we have a hard time staying focused on just how good the present can be. Sure, it may not be what we want, but it’s what we’ve got. Sometimes I wish I could go back and tell myself as a kid to not be such a jerk. Just enjoy the ride. It makes me wonder, what if God is telling us: “Don’t make me come back there”.
I hope you enjoyed this latest blog on my new re-installed OS!
